The 25 April Documentation Centre at the University of Coimbra will be taking part in the 2026 edition of the European Researchers’ Night (ERN), a European science communication initiative that brings researchers and society closer together through interactive, accessible and free experiences.
Under the theme ‘Uniting Knowledge, Transforming the Future’, NEI 2026 will take place on 25 September in Coimbra, from 3.00 pm to 11.00 pm, inviting the public to discover the role of research in developing responses to contemporary challenges.
The participation of the University of Coimbra’s 25 April Documentation Centre reinforces the interdisciplinary nature of the initiative, bringing historical knowledge, memory and documentary research to a diverse audience. Through its documentary heritage and the work it carries out on contemporary Portuguese history, the Centre contributes to a reflection on the importance of preserving memory in understanding the present and shaping the future.
The European Researchers’ Night transforms Coimbra into a vibrant space for discovery, learning and participation. Throughout the day, families, students, schools, visitors and curious members of the public of all ages will be able to take part in hands-on experiences, games, demonstrations, exhibitions, talks and other activities, spread across different venues throughout the city.
