The book Censorship and Education in Children’s and Young Adult Literature during the Dictatorships of Franco and Salazar, edited by Ramón Tena Fernández, Sara Reis da Silva, and José Soto Vázquez, analyzes the impact of censorship on children’s and young adult literature in Spain and Portugal during the authoritarian regimes of the 20th century. The volume brings together studies by Portuguese and Spanish researchers who draw on official archival documentation to reveal how books intended for children and young people were controlled, altered, or banned for ideological and educational purposes.

It thus contributes to a better understanding of the role of literature and education in shaping values during the dictatorships of Franco and Salazar, establishing itself as a key reference in the field of children’s and young adult literature studies and Iberian cultural history.

Donated by the editors, this work is now available for consultation in the reading room.
