We are pleased to announce that our esteemed donor, Major General Augusto Monteiro Valente, will be honoured tomorrow, September 7, as part of the municipality's celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April. The ceremony will begin at 4.30pm and will take place next to Monteiro Valente Square in Santa Clara. It will consist of the inauguration of a memorial alluding to 25 April, where a V200 Chaimite will be installed, identical to the one used by Salgueiro Maia in the Carnation Revolution. This symbol of the Revolution was given to the municipality in an agreement with the Portuguese Army. The event will be attended by José Manuel Silva, mayor of Coimbra, Valdemar Rosas, chairman of the board of the Centre's Archaeology and Art Group.
